We invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of the sea whilst our top-chef prepares you a delectable meal using the finest and freshest ingredients.Ginger’s heritage stems from The Bell Restaurant which was established in 1963. Ginger was built for the public and has evolved into a fusion between elegant chic and contemporary fine fare with a classic twist.

Indulge in our exquisite dishes and enjoy your dining experience with us!

Ginger, nestled nest to The Beach Hotel built in the 1920's, offers a range of dishes to enjoy amidst the elegant sea-side setting. Combining fresh local ingredients, modern cooking techniques and some classic favourites.

Dishes include a trio of South African game set on a bed of rocket and orange glazed onions, topped with parmesan crackling and a rooibos balsamic dressing; a ginger and saffron infused boullebaise; a variety of fresh seafood prepared to perfection; butter roasted venison served with a vanilla infused mash and finished with a citrus-gin and cranberry demi-glace; and to complete the meal a decadent assortment of desserts as well as a gourmet cheese trolley with both local and international cheeses.

Ginger also boasts a set of gueridon trolleys that take one back to the days of old fashioned fine dining. We prepare tableside a selection of dishes which include escargot flambeed with crispy bacon, parsley and garlic, as well as the all-time classics Chateaubriand and Crepe Suzette.

The award winning wine selection deserves special mention, both quaffer and connoisseur are well catered for. The selections have been chosen with the menu in mind, and many a wine lover’s heart will be gladdened to see the choices available.

Service is spot-on and what you would expect from an establishment of this calibre: extremely efficient and informed, questions about ingredients are relayed to the chef and answered. The constant presence of the manager on floor adds to the success of the restaurant.

Ginger boasts a spectacular view of the Nelson Mandela Bay where dolphins frolic during the day and the moonshine and twinkling lights of local chokka boats dot the evening seascape. The interior is a combination of glass, mahogany, neutral shades, textured walls and beautiful artwork, all of which contribute toward a luxurious and memorable experience.
