We're collaborating with Neil Ellis Wines and Gourmet Gecko to bring you an evening of excellent wine paired with the finest Wagyu beef.
Neil Ellis was founded in 1984 when he sourced grapes from vineyards in Stellenbosch. As a result of the highly restrictive quota system at the time, Neil had to think out of the box. He then started creating his wine in a rented cellar. His vision and pursuit of quality extended out of the cellar and into the vineyards, where varieties would excel effortlessly.
Wagyu beef is more tender and juicier than standard beef, with a nice buttery flavor. Quality Wagyu has marbling and streaks of fat that run throughout the beef, within the muscle and not just around the outer edges. The fat in wagyu melts at a lower temperature, so a mere perfect sliver of raw product will literally melt on the tongue, providing pure unadulterated bliss!
